Companies selected for the 2017 Innovation Conference & Showcase (2017 IC&S) Pitch Competition will be recognized as an IC&S Pitch Finalist, compete in the Pitch Competition and exhibit in the Conference Showcase.  Pitch Finalists will compete for Best in Show Awards and winners will be selected during the Pitch Competition.

A structured and disciplined process will be employed by a prestigious panel of judges to evaluate the finalists and select the award winners.

Brad Burke

Brad Burke is the Managing Director of the Rice Alliance and has led the Rice Alliance since 2001. During that time, Rice’s graduate entrepreneurship program has achieved the #3 ranking in the U.S. (having been previously unranked). The Rice Alliance’s Rice Business Plan Competition has become the world’s largest and richest student startup competition in the world. Previously, Brad founded and managed the Houston office of Viant Corporation, a premier internet consulting firm, that went public via IPO in 1999, before being acquired in 2002.

Richard Dixon

Richard Dixon

Currently Richard Dixon is the Director of the Wafic Said Molecular Cardiology Research Laboratories, Texas Heart Institute, Houston, Texas. In his current role, he is involved in the discovery and development of small molecule, gene and cell therapies for heart, lung and vascular diseases.

Over Richard’s career, he has been involved in most aspects of pharmaceutical and biotechnology research and development.

Hossam Elbadawy is the President and CEO of O&G Technologies, a Houston based technology incubator focused on the oil and gas industry and chairs the Energy Sub Group for the Houston Angel Network. Hossam is the former CEO of Tercel Oilfield Products, that he sold in May 2016. He also served as the Senior Operating Partner at Lime Rock Partner for 7 years.

Rich Johnson

Rich Johnson is Co-founder and President of Accudata Systems, Inc., Texas’ leader in IT consulting, cyber security and systems integration. For more than three decades, Mr. Johnson has been a leader and innovator in helping organizations build a solid foundation in corporate technology solutions. His foresight has given way to both streamlining and advancing how technology can impact bottom-line growth. Additionally, his leadership has helped grow Accudata from a 2 person start-up in 1982 to a 170 person Houston-based consulting firm with global capabilities.

Patrick Lewis

Patrick Lewis

Patrick brings twenty years of experience in credit, private and public equities. He has developed a holistic perspective to investing in emerging, disruptive technologies. Patrick began his career in commercial banking in New Orleans after graduating with a degree in Accounting and Finance from Louisiana State University.

Patrick serves as a mentor at seed accelerator SURGE (Houston, TX), Capital Factory (Austin, TX) and on the board of directors of the Children’s Fund.

Sonia Mathur

Sonia is a real estate investor and angel investor in early stage companies in various industries and consumer/commercial sectors.  She is an experienced business leader in the IT/high tech industry with over 20 years experience developing new products and developing market-entry strategies.

Her experience includes delivery of fintech, e-commerce, IoT, and business intelligence solutions and creation of marketing strategy through diverse roles in early-stage companies, consulting firms and large enterprises.
